Shrek2.net is a passion project to document the internet phenomenon, Shrek. Released back in 2001, Shrek spawned a cult following with fans going as far as to create a reimaging of the orignal movie released on Youtube. So, not only will this page document memes. It will document interesting facts and sources to quench your curiosity of Shrek.

"So, why is this website named Shrek2.net?"

Shrek 2, the second movie in the shrek franchise. Is widely regarded as an example as one of, if not the best, example of how to make a perfect sequel. Youtuber Schaffrillas Productions explains this in depth in his 20 minute long video essay.

Here's a little bit about what he had to say on what makes a perfect sequel. A perfect sequel...

"1. Expands the universe of the first film in meaningful ways. 2. continues the story in a new compelling way. 3. introduces new comepelling themes or expand on the theme of the original. And 4. leaves an undeniable impact on the franchise."

So, to answer your question.
It's to honor the cinematic masterpiece that is Shreks sequel, Shrek 2.
